We started by laser-etching messages onto bananas and mailing them across the EU. The logical next step is obvious to anyone: three stages of escalating altitude, ending at the International Space Station. Other companies launch satellites. We launch potassium.

- Is the banana edible after space?
- Stage 1: yes, though it will have seen things. Stage 3: we are legally and morally obliged to say no.
- Why are you doing this?
- Every great company needs a moonshot. Ours is a banana. At least ours is honest about being bananas.
- Can my message fly?
- Stage 1 sponsors get their names on the payload and their words etched on the flight banana. Space is big; the banana is not. First come, first etched.
- What about regulatory approvals?
- We take airspace compliance more seriously than anything else on this page. Balloon flights are coordinated with the relevant aviation authorities before anything leaves the ground. The banana files its own paperwork.
